Quite an interesting October 1st
I guess the day's BIG NEWS is that my bro scored Bruce tickets for his final show next Friday at Giants Stadium...THE final show at Giants Stadium. This came out of nowhere and i'm still processing it. I think i'm in shock. It's so "WOW!" that I just can't quite get it yet.
This came after hours of dumbass, eyes-glazin-over data entry for a one-time dumbass job, a whole situation about which there's tons of personally interesting tidbits...but none interesting enough to share with the masses.
The day was cold. No, seriously...COLD. They predicted lotsa sun, light winds and low 60s. Well, it never got above 55 and was a slate of gray skies all damn day. FIFTY-FIVE for a HIGH on the first of October! OY! Truly like mid-November. Holy season shift in 2 days.
Finally, last but not least, in the past half-hour, I stumbled yet again on information -- pictures, to be precise -- on the internet that just has me, again, kinda speechless. I typed in a guy I worked with a DECADE ago (OK, technically, as recently as 9 years ago) on Facebook and he came up...finally. Been lookin for him off and on for a while, but he never showed up, but I digress. Because he's in my network and/or doesn't set his privacy settings, I got to see his whole profile...including pics. ONE pic was him and a few OTHER people we used to work with, from one of the OTHER people's album...which, of course, I was then able to click on and see even MORE photos. The pic was actually from an album dedicated to our old place of employment. SO. FUCKING. SURREAL. I just can't even tell you. Upping the ante of surreal is the fact that, very sadly, one of the people in the pics died last year...which I also TOTALLY randomly found out in the summer of '08 via running into another old co-worker at a bar in the Village. It's nuts seeing these pictures. Crazy shit. And as the title of the photo album asks, HOW is 1999 a decade ago already?! OK, I must stop. Ugh, now i'm gonna lay awake thinking about all these people and the passage of time. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
Happy thoughts, happy thoughts...SPRINGSTEEN!!!!!
